Mission Statement
The mission of the
Providence Children’s Home is to gather resources and
opportunities into a sustainable home, school and community
for Kenyan children orphaned by AIDS, in a manner that
glorifies God.
Goals and Long Range
Objectives
- Through the PCH
campus in Ngong, Kenya, provide a secure and loving home
and a quality education for Kenyan children orphaned by
AIDS as well as children from families of all income
levels.
- Establish campus family units
where each child is protected, nurtured and loved
and create programs that meet the psychological,
social and medical needs of each child.
- Design and implement an
accredited curriculum that stimulates, challenges
and imparts a lifetime joy of learning for each
child.
- Establish and maintain a support
system that includes house parents, Big Brothers &
Sisters program (U.S. & Kenya) and maintain
relationship with the community and child’s family
of origin.
- Provide
vocational training and set up students as entrepreneurs
in small industries, integrating the children of the
campus into the surrounding community.
- Collaborate with stakeholders,
community leaders, students and PCH staff to
determine a vocational laboratory curriculum.
- Establish and support
mentor/community/student relationships throughout
the course of projects and classes.
- Commit and maintain specific
resources for projects and classes arising out of
vocational laboratory curriculum.
- Matriculate students as critical
thinking and problem solving people in the context
of a particular skill.
- As a Christian
institution, PCH will provide Christian witness,
education, nurture and fellowship for the children,
faculty and staff of the school, while meeting Kenyan
educational requirements for teaching all Kenyan
religions.
- Develop student led programs to
promote Christian witness in both elementary and
high school.
- Establish ongoing religious
education in keeping with established curriculum.
- Develop Christian nurture
programs enabling spiritual growth for students and
staff.
- Establish opportunities for
fellowship among students, faculty and staff.
- Connect U.S. citizens to a solution
to the problem of AIDS orphans, applying American
resources in conjunction with those in Kenya to create a
model for alleviating this crisis.
- Establish a fund raising team to
develop a donor base and to organize fund raisers.
- Establish an education team to
gather research material on AIDS in Africa, to
develop promotional material and to develop
presentation material.
- Establish U.S. and Kenya
logistics teams to organize and support mission
trips to the Ngong campus.
- The campus will
be developed in a manner consistent with the above
goals.
- Develop a process by which the
architecture and infrastructure of the campus are
defined and implemented, such that all the goals are
accounted for.
