Visit to Hell's Gate National Park
We visited Hell’s Gate National Park this past spring. Contrary to its name, this is a beautiful and scenic National Park located near Lake Naivasha. The park was established in 1984 and has a wide variety of wildlife to enjoy. The girls enjoyed a ride through the park, taking in the scenery and identifying the different animals we came across. We were able to see vultures, buffalo, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, the endangered Thompson gazelle, and Eland antelopes. We visited the Gorge Twist and explored the curving walls with the help of a tour guide then we saw small waterfalls that had both hot and cold water. It was an unforgettable experience! Additionally, we were able to visit and enjoy the Olkaria Geothermal Power Station on the way to the Geothermal Spa. The spa is one of Kenya’s main tourist attractions in the area, because the water is a naturally heated spring from the earth’s core. Swimming in this water is said to have immense health benefits for the skin. Whether they experienced these health benefits or not, the girls had a great time swimming in the spa.
